  1. Martin Luther King Jr [born Michael King Jr] was born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia USA. He was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using the tactics of nonviolence and civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs and inspired by the nonviolent activism of Mahatma Gandhi. He is well known for his speech I Have A Dream where he believed that one day black and whites would come together. He was greatly responsible for the passing of the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act for African Americans so they would not be treated differently from whites. He died 4 April 1968, Memphis, Tennessee, United States.
